A popular tourist stop, especially for those having just completed a trek to the nearby tepui.
The water has smoothed and polished the jasper stone over which it flows and when the sunlight is right, it can really sparkle and shine.

Angel Falls as "seen" from the air.
I put quotes around that word because I didn't actually get to see this as I shot it - it was on the other side of the aircraft from me. I held my camera across the little Cessna over the pilot's shoulder and blind-fired about four shots. Amazingly, not only did I get the falls in the shot, the composition wasn't too bad!
If you can't be good, you might as well be lucky...

The rays of light shining down through the clouds were being quite dramatic this particular afternoon. Of the dozen or so shots I took, I felt this one the most interesting and 'balanced'.

This area seems to always has residual snow - though this visit was in the first half of May, sometimes even much later in summer there is still snow covering the mountainside behind. Not bad for an area that has seen much lighter snowfall in recent years than normal and is rightly concerned about drought.

The pedestrian bridge across the Sacramento river - called the Rainbow Bridge - is a lovely modern structure. I generally swing by to take a quick stroll across it and through the parkland around it whenever I have a moment in Redding. I find the geometric swoops and curves to be quite photogenic.
